Share Your Science. Spark Curiosity. Inspire the Next Generation.

Join Maker Faire Long Island on June 6, 2026 at Stony Brook University as part of our featured Ask a Scientist program, where scientists and STEM professionals connect directly with hundreds of curious young minds and families.

Maker Faire Long Island 2026 is excited to once again feature the beloved Ask a Scientist program, an engaging opportunity for scientists, researchers, faculty, and STEM professionals to connect with the public in a meaningful and memorable way. Visitors will have the chance to ask questions about the world around them, explore the science that fascinates them, and interact directly with experts across a wide range of disciplines.

With more than 200 students expected this year, Ask a Scientist offers a powerful way to inspire curiosity, make science approachable, and show young people what is possible when questions lead to discovery. By participating, you will not only represent your field, but also become part of the energy, creativity, and excitement that make Maker Faire Long Island such a special experience for our community.

Why Participate
Ask a Scientist is a chance to:

  • engage directly with students, families, and lifelong learners
  • make science accessible, personal, and exciting
  • represent your field in a fun, high visibility public setting
  • be part of Maker Faire Long Island’s celebration of innovation, invention, and creativity

Scientists from many disciplines are encouraged to participate. The flyer highlights fields including paleontology, coastal dynamics, biomedical engineering, geology, neurobiology, behavioral neuroscience, marine biology, climatology, chemistry, alternative fuel, biology, cell biology, mathematics, and anthropology, and notes that disciplines are not limited to those listed.

Help bring science to life at Maker Faire Long Island 2026. Join Ask a Scientist and be part of a day filled with curiosity, conversation, and discovery.
