Every year, more than 100 volunteers make the Maker Faire Long Island a huge success. Volunteer this year and have fun while making this event the best ever!

Be part of the Greatest Show and Tell on Earth at Stony Brook University on June 6, 2026.

Maker Faire Long Island is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make this exciting day of creativity, innovation, and hands-on discovery a success. Whether you are a student, community member, or part of a corporate employee volunteer group, volunteering is a fun and meaningful way to get involved behind the scenes of one of Long Island’s most inspiring events. Volunteers who sign up in advance receive free entry to the Faire, can earn community service hours, and may receive a free volunteer t-shirt while supplies last if registered by May 14.

Held at the Stony Brook University Student Activity Center, Maker Faire Long Island brings together makers, educators, artists, engineers, students, and families for a day filled with invention, experimentation, and interactive experiences. Volunteers help support the energy of the event while enjoying the chance to be part of something truly special.

Other Ways to Help – Promote Maker Faire Long Island:

  • ASK A SCIENTIST PROGRAM: Scientists, STEM faculty members, researchers, and professionals from a wide range of disciplines are encouraged to participate.

  • Maker Recruitment: Helping the producers identify Makers is very important. If you know someone who is a Maker, please encourage them by filling out our Call for Makers.
  • Social Media: Follow us Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, and share our pages with your friends.
  • Guest Blogger: We are definitely interested in your guest posts on the Maker Faire Long Island site. Please submit your blog post ideas and content to Lisa Rodriguez.

  • Make sure to tell us about things that you've built or any special skills that you have.
    Please check the above box if you have been in contact or directed to volunteer for the "Learn to Solder" Workshop. Previous soldering experience or familiarity with equipment is required.
    Please check the above box if you have been in contact or directed to volunteer for the "Ask a Scientist" Program.
    EXCLUDING Ask a Scientist program and Learn to Solder Volunteers (information for your areas will be communicated separately: All other volunteers must attend one volunteer training session. Please select the session that you are available to attend. TRAINING SESSIONS ARE VIRTUAL.
    Please check all hours you are able and willing to assist. You may be scheduled for all of the time blocks you check but we will make sure you get breaks and time to explore the faire! **Volunteers during this time slot will need to assist with set-up and must be able to lift tables and chairs
