Dennis Sucilsky is a museum trained blacksmith who began his career in the 1970s
specializing in 18th and 19th century building hardware. While researching artifacts from
an inn, Dennis came across iron puzzles. These metal brainteasers caught his fancy, and
he began reproducing some of the antique designs as well as developing his own
creations.
Using his knowledge of iron-working and tool-making, Dennis created the Tavern Puzzle
Collection in the early 1980s. The materials and techniques he uses produce items that
retain the look and feel of hand-forged ironware. All puzzles and accessories are
handcrafted and affordably priced.
Tavern Puzzles intrigue young and old alike. No matter what a person’s puzzle solving
ability, there is a design for everyone that will provide a “Eureka!” moment when
successfully solved. Each puzzle is mechanical in nature: the object is to remove one
piece. Neither force nor tricks are needed; old-fashioned problem solving will do it. The
collection starts with simple designs that use basic manipulations. Each group becomes
progressively more difficult combining moves and increasing the number of steps to
solve.
