Artie Weissbach

Artie Weissbach is very excited to be the Director of Technology at Harbor, where he can contribute to a team of dedicated educators and a community of learners. His 20 years of experience as a Systems Engineer and a Masters Degree in Childhood Education has allowed him to become an innovator in the integration of Technology as a tool to support learning. In addition to acquiring a Masters Degree in Childhood Education he also holds a New York State Permanent Certification in Elementary Education (1-6), a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Technology, an Associates in Applied Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, and numerous certifications pertaining to networking, computers and printers. Artie believes that when technology engages students in creative and collaborative ways, it leads them to develop skills they need today and for the future. He enjoys teaching technology to children and working with faculty to help further incorporate technology into the classrooms.

Christine McBrien

Christine McBrien is the Director of Early Childhood, overseeing preschool through 2nd grade and is the Director of Admission. She has nearly 20 years experience in the field of child development. Christine holds a Master's Degree in Research Psychology with a concentration in cognition and child development from Wake Forest University. She holds four teaching certifications in Early Childhood and Childhood in general education and special education. She has had published articles in the popular press as well as research publications. Her unique experience, coming into education through the field of psychology, offers her the perspective of viewing child development through the emotional, social, linguistic, physical and cognitive lenses. This fits nicely with Harbor Country Day School's approach to educating the whole child. Before working for Harbor Country Day School, Christine taught at the elementary education level, she presented child development, behavioral and educational workshops through her business, "Learning Together Seminars", and through the Smithtown Parent Resource Center and the Suffolk County Child Care Council. She has also worked as a psychometrist administering tests of learning and behavior to children. During her time at Harbor Country Day School, Christine taught fourth grade and created the enrichment curriculum for science; more recently, she has been a PreK 3 teacher. As a teacher, one of the highlights of her work experience was collaborating with the Parents' Association to Chair the 2012 Strawberry Festival, which raised $22,000 for the Stony Brook Children’s Hospital. Something she enjoys most about being in Admissions and Administration is how the home-school connection works to provide positive communication between parents and faculty and how that helps to inform individualized instruction with students.
