Rizuki Cosplay

Rizuki has been cosplaying since 2009 after a few first attempts back between 1999-2001. She mostly cosplays characters from various anime series and video games, but has plans to tackle more Star Wars and comic book characters in the future. Rizuki makes the majority of her cosplay, but she also alters cosplay she purchases as well. She has run panels, workshops, and photoshoots at multiple conventions including Anime NYC, New York Comic Con, Otakon, AnimeNEXT, Katsucon, I-CON, EmCon Anime Festival, Inbeon Con, and Immortal Con. Rizuki is now in charge of the cosplay programming for the Long Island Comic Book Expo as of 2018, and she was also the featured cosplay guest for Baldwin Public Library's first Pika Pika Anime Mini Con in 2018. Rizuki writes for her own blog as well as Word of the Nerd and attends local events representing both sites to give readers an insight on the experience. She loves meeting people and talking all things anime and cosplay.

What inspired you to make this project?
I have been cosplaying for years -- it has been an amazing way to play with my hobbies and learn new ones. It involves so many different creative outlets including sewing, painting, crafting with foam and worbla, working with resin and beadwork... and even diving into wig styling, play with makeup, and learning how to pose. It's assisted me with my fear of public speaking and has really allowed me to express myself. I want to assist the next generation of cosplayers get into the cosplay world and not be afraid to try and fail, and try and learn. I've begun doing weekly livestreams with my followers and continue to provide them with tips and feedback on constructing their craft while still having fun. It has been an absolute blast and I want to continue providing that information to the Long Island community.
